OCTOBER 3 • HOMESCHOOL EXCLUSIVE: MUSIC OF THE WIREGRASS  Students will have a chance to check out a mountain dulcimer and create an instrument of their own to take home. $10 per child; $4 per adult or purchase a money-saving Edventure Pass. OCTOBER 5, NOVEMBER 2, DECEMBER 7 • WIREGRASS WOODTURNER MEETING AND DEMO 9:30 a.m. Open to the public, free with paid gate admission and free for Wiregrass Woodturner members. Woodturning demonstrations will take place. Ag Building.

OCTOBER 5, NOVEMBER 2, DECEMBER 7 • LANDMARK DULCIMER CLUB 1 p.m. Jam session and lesson. No experience or music reading ability necessary. Must have a mountain dulcimer. Free with paid gate admission.

OCTOBER 6, NOVEMBER 3, DECEMBER 8 • REPTILE FEEDING 4 p.m. Meet our snakes and turtles and learn why these animals are so important to the environment. Free with paid gate admission. Interpretive Center Lobby.

OCTOBER 5 • LANDMARK PARK BENEFIT CAR SHOW 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Over 100 collector cars, trucks and vehicles will be on display throughout the day. The price is $10 to enter a car in the show, which also covers your admission to view the cars. Admission to the event to view the cars is $5 for adults, $3 for kids and free for park members and children 2 and under. The first 100 cars to enter the show for display will receive a dash plaque and a goodie bag. The Car Show is sponsored by WDHN TV 18, Durden Outdoor, Barberitos, Jim Whaley Tires, Billy’s Paint and Body, Troy Bank and Trust, Alden Services and Davis Oil Co.

OCTOBER 10 • HOMESCHOOL EXCLUSIVE: SECRETS OF THE KITCHEN GARDEN •  Students will learn about Landmark Park's Kitchen Garden with the help of the Wiregrass Master Gardeners. Kids will also get to plant a seed to take home and watch grow. $10 per child; $4 per adult or purchase a money-saving Edventure Pass. Visit www.landmarkparkdothan.com for more info and to register. OCTOBER 19 • FALL FARM DAY 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Enjoy the sights and sounds of an 1890s farmstead while volunteers demonstrate sugar cane grinding and syrup making, peanut picking, stacking and digging, an antique tractor pull and parade, household chores and more. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and military, $4 for kids, and free for children two and under and members. Fall Farm Day is an AL 200 Bicentennial event. Sponsored by Extendicare and the National Peanut Festival.

OCTOBER 18-20 • LANDMARK PARK QUILT SHOW Antique and contemporary quilts will be on display in the Stokes Activity Barn for the eleventh annual Landmark Park Quilt Show on October 18-20. Friday and Sunday will be from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. and Saturday will be in conjunction with Fall Farm Day from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission on Friday and Sunday is $4 for adults, $3 for kids and free for members. Admission on Saturday is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and active military and $4 for kids. The theme for this year’s show is 200 Quilts for 200 Years. The Quilt Show is an official AL 200 Bicentennial event.

FIELD TRIP OPPORTUNITY: HARVEST HEYDAYS Enjoy an educational program full of harvest fun! Visit the pumpkin patch to select your own pumpkin to take home, pick cotton, stack peanuts, take a hayride and more. Available dates are Oct. 22, 23, 24, 29, 20 and 31. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. PREREGISTERED GROUPS ONLY! The recommended age is Prek-5th grade. $10 per student; $8 per adult; additional pumpkins $3. FIELD TRIP OPPORTUNITY: LIVING HISTORY Costumed program! Give your students the experience of living and working on the Wiregrass Farmstead in the early 1900s. Students will have the chance to cook on the hearth, make butter, care for farm animals, work in the garden and more. The program ends with a lunch prepared by the students, traditional games, a hayride and an ice cream cone. Due to the hands-on nature of this program, classes are limited to a max of 30 students and a min of 20. Available dates are November 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22. $12 per student, includes lunch and ice cream. 9 a.m.- 1p.m. The recommended age is 3rd-5th grade. PREREGISTERED GROUPS ONLY! NOVEMBER 16 • PICKIN IN THE PARK New event! 10 a.m. Headland Presbyterian Church. Musicians are invited to a bluegrass, country and gospel jam session. Visitors are welcome to listen. Show your instrument at the gate and receive free admission. Regular admission is $4 for adults, $3 for kids and free for park members and children 2 and under. All ages and skill levels welcome.

DECEMBER 1 • DECORATING DAY 1 p.m. Spread some holiday cheer at Landmark Park. Create wreaths, garlands, and swags out of natural materials and help decorate Landmark Park for Victorian Christmas. Refreshments provided. Registration required, visit www.landmarkparkdothan.com to register. Event supported by the Wiregrass Master Gardeners. Free admission. Bring your gloves and wire cutters.

FIELD TRIP OPPORTUNITY: CHRISTMAS PAST Thinking of Christmas the way your grandparents described it? Students can experience some of the same activities and emotions of this very special season with cider tasting, games, crafts, and storytelling by the fireplace. Due to the hands-on nature of this program, groups are limited to 30 students per session. Available dates are December 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20. $6 per student; $5 per adult. DECEMBER 8 • VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Annual open house with hot chocolate, apple cider, Christmas music, a church service by a circuit-riding preacher, wagon rides, crafts and visit with Santa. Visitors are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for donation to the Wiregrass United Way Area Food Bank.

Landmark Park will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

The Barnyard Playground will be closed for renovations and repairs beginning December 21.



Landmark Park is a 135-acre natural science and history museum located on the outskirts of Dothan. Regular park hours are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for kids and free for park members and children 2 and under. Admission is higher for some special events. Become a member and receive free admission for a full year. Features of the park include nature trails, a planetarium, playground, picnic areas, an elevated boardwalk, a turn-of-the-century farmstead with chickens, cows and other farm animals and crops typical of a 1890s farm. In addition, the park includes the Martin Drugstore and Soda Fountain one-room school, and historic church, all preserved from the surrounding area. Several areas of the park are available for rent for your special occasion.
