Look At All The Fun Family Summer Events Planned At Landmark Park

THROUGH LABOR DAY • BLUE STAR PLUS MUSEUM PROGRAM From Memorial Day to Labor Day, ALL military (active and retired) and up to five family members will receive free admission to Landmark Park. Sponsored by All In Credit Union.


THROUGH AUGUST 3 • STUFF THE BUS

This summer, Landmark Park will be collecting school supplies for donation to local school systems. Bring your school supplies for donation and receive a free gift from Landmark Park. The bus will be at the park in June and July.

JUNE 1, JULY 6, AUGUST 3• WIREGRASS WOODTURNER MEETING AND DEMO 9:30 a.m. Open to the public, free with paid gate admission and free for Wiregrass Woodturner members. Woodturning demonstrations will take place. Ag Building.


JUNE 1, JULY 6, AUGUST 3 • LANDMARK DULCIMER CLUB 1 p.m. Jam session and lesson. No experience or music reading ability necessary. Must have a mountain dulcimer. Free with paid gate admission. 


JUNE 2, JULY 7, AUGUST 4 • REPTILE FEEDING 4 p.m. Meet our snakes and turtles and learn why these animals are so important to the environment. Free with paid gate admission.  Interpretive Center Lobby.


JUNE 8 • BLACKSMITH DEMONSTRATION 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Interactive blacksmithing demo with handmade items for sale. Wiregrass Farmstead Blacksmith Shop. Free with paid gate admission. 


WEDNESDAYS IN JUNE AND JULY • WACKY WEDNESDAYS

On Wednesdays during June and July at 10 a.m., anything goes! Wacky Wednesdays are programs on a variety of topics suitable for families with kids. These activities are free with paid gate admission ($4 for adults, $3 for kids, free for park members and children 2 and under). Seating is limited and registration is required. History will be on our minds on Thursdays during June and July at 10 a.m. With the help of Alabama Agricultural Museum Curator Kari Barley, Throw Back Thursdays will offer programs on our history, suitable for families with kids. These activities are free with paid gate admission ($4 for adults, $3 for kids, free for park members and children 2 and under). Seating is limited and registration is required. JUNE 13, 27, JULY 11, 25 • MUSIC BY MOONLIGHT Free concert on the Gazebo lawn. Bring your picnic and lawn chairs and enjoy outdoor music. No pets or alcohol, please. Martin Drugstore and Shelley General Store will be open selling refreshments. Sponsored by WOOF Radio.

JULY 13 • WATERMELON SAMPLING Celebrate National Watermelon Month with Landmark Park during our Watermelon Harvest and Sampling on July 13 at 10 a.m. The Watermelon Sampling is free with paid gate admission. Special thanks to Master Gardener and park volunteer Tom Boyle for coordinating this event each year.


JULY 14, 21, 28: HERITAGE FORUMS On Sundays in July, beginning July 14, guest speakers will present programs on state and local history. These presentations take place at 3 p.m. in, Interpretive Center Auditorium. Free with paid gate admission ($4 for adults, $3 for kids, free for park members). AUGUST 3 • EDUCATION FESTIVAL

On August 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., classroom and home school teachers, parents, and kids of all ages are welcome to come to our first Education Festival! Landmark
Park offers educational programming year-round to thousands of students. Our Education Festival will give visitors a chance to see what the Education Department at Landmark Park has to offer. A variety of stations will be spread across the park with activities on art, history, science, and STEM. Guests can enjoy farm tours, the kid’s zone, food vendors and explore the boardwalk. After your adventures around the park, explore space with an instructor-led program in the planetarium and get to know our reptiles at the Radical Reptiles program in the auditorium. Admission to the Education Festival is $4 for adults, $3 for kids and free for children 2 and under and for park members. Landmark Park is a 135-acre natural science and history museum located on the outskirts of Dothan. Regular park hours are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for kids and free for park members and children 2 and under. Admission is higher for some special events. Become a member and receive free admission for a full year. Features of the park include nature trails, a planetarium, playground, picnic areas, an elevated boardwalk, a turn-of-the-century farmstead with chickens, cows and other farm animals and crops typical of a 1890s farm. In addition, the park includes the Martin Drugstore and Soda Fountain one-room school, and historic church, all preserved from the surrounding area. Several areas of the park are available for rent for your special occasion.
