Single Parent Workshops are workshops/seminars designed to educate, equip, and empower single parents by giving them the knowledge and tools to obtain a better quality of life for themselves and their children. They are coordinated and hosted quarterly by Community Outreach Leader, Kim P. Carroll. These workshops/seminars are open to all single parents of children ages 0-17 and cover a wide range of topics that specifically address the issues and dynamics that single parents encounter.

On September 9th starting at 5:30 pm we will be hosting our last quarter seminar entitled, Parenting Seminar, that will be held at the Houston County Main Library in Dothan Al. This seminar will address a wide range of topics that are relevant to single parents and two-parent homes. The information in this seminar will give parents the knowledge and tools to build healthy relationships with their children, help them to become more capable and competent in their parenting skills. It will also give parents the necessary tools to strengthen and enhance the growth and development of their children. Some of the topics of discussion will be: Fostering Self -esteem, Coping with Daily Stress and Frustrations, Helping your children to succeed in School, The strength of the relationship, The root of your child’s behavior, Positive and negative reinforcers for discipline and so much more.
Mrs. Alicia Lewis Ms., LPC from Pathways Professional Counseling will be discussing Parent/ Teen Relationships. Mrs. Lewis is a licensed Professional Counselor. She works with individuals, couples, and families in crisis. She specializes in working with children of divorce, blended families, and parenting children’s and teens in multi-family systems. She has been with Pathways since March 2000.
Dr. Sheila Trulove EdD is an educator and author. She will be discussing Parenting Ages 2-12. She has been an educator for over 14 years. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work as a Special Education Teacher. She is also the author of a children’s book entitled, “I CAN WIN”. She is a single mother of 3 wonderful children. Her mission is to create winners and winning mindsets.
