STEP INTO SEPTEMBER WITH THE ARTS!

At the Cultural Arts Center, the following art opportunities will be available during the month. There are classes with 4 sessions, individual classes for children and adults, 2 session classes, and a 3 class session. Class schedules are both after school, mornings, and allow for children and adults to choose those classes that work for them. Print out the registration form, fill it in and then scan it & email it to us, mail it to us, or drop it off at the CAC Box Office window. Payment is due the first day of class.


September offerings:  Our theme this month is SEA LIFE! REGISTRATION DEADLINE is 2 days before each class is scheduled to start.

TAKE A COURSE MONDAYS

Colored Pencil Art, children ages 6-8, 4:30-5:30 p.m.  

This class is a 4 session class (September 9, 16, 23, 30) that will focus on BOTH drawing and adding color through colored pencils. This art medium allows the student to do more than you imagine with colored pencils including shading, defining, smudging, rubbing, and more. Easy to carry colored pencils provide a student the chance to carry their art with them.   INSTRUCTOR: Dawn Clay     COST: $20 per student


SINGLE SHOT TUESDAYS

Eggcrate Lobster Art, September 10, children ages 5-8, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

This one time class will held younger children create their own Lobster art full of color and craftiness. Perfect for the smaller hands and fingers of young artists.

INSTRUCTOR:  Dawn Clay    COST:  $10 per student


Seahorse Watercolor, September 17, children ages 11-15, 4:30-5:45 p.m.

Geared for the older child, this one time class will help older students explore drawing, use of watercolors and brushes, the art of blending all while creating a one of a kind picture of a seahorse. All supplies provided in this class so bring your colorful creativity!

Sharkbite Art, September 24, BOYS ages 6-9, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

While the girls have crowns, the boys get to make art with sharks! Using a variety of artistic media, students will create one of a kind art related to magnificent sharks. Perfect to go with Sharkweek on TV!

WIND DOWN WEDNESDAYS FOR ADULTS

Ocean Sunrise Acrylic Painting Part 1, September 11 and Part 2 September 18, 10:00-12:00

This 2 part class will teach you the basics of color, technique, and tools in the world of acrylic painting. Dawn has some great ideas of what an ocean sunrise will look like, and everything is perfect for hanging! All supplies including canvas provided.

Harbor Life Watercolor Painting, September 25, 10:00-12:00

This one time class will get you the basics of watercolor tools and techniques on heavy duty watercolor paper as you create a picture of harbor life from the eyes of a small harbor town. Restful and yet colorful, this watercolor class has everything you need to get you started in watercolors and create your own masterpiece. All supplies including heavy duty watercolor paper provided.

TEACHING THURSDAYS

Pen & Ink-You’ll Get the Point, Thursdays September 12, 19, 26, children ages 10-15, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Drawing is a favorite of many young artists, and Pen & Ink will help you refine your design and get to the point as students explore the new use of an old favorite—the point or dot. Loads of artists from the past and now the present are using dots to create works of art. Come learn how you can make a point with a dot!

INSTRUCTOR: Dawn Clay COST: $15 per student

Paper Plate Whales: Friday, September 6, children ages 5-10, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Finding Nemo: Friday, September 13, children ages 5-10, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Hank the Octopus: Friday, September 20, children ages 5-10, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Jelly Fish Fun: Friday, September 27, children ages 5-10, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
