Local Business Spotlight: The Pie Safe

August 10, 2020

Cookies, Cupcakes, Cakes.... baking is Cheyenne Tampary's passion and new business.  When her mom passed away in 2018, Cheyenne knew she needed a way to cope.  She thought back to the days when she was young, watching her mother in the kitchen bake cakes for people.  After practicing on family and friends, Cheyenne opened The Pie Safe in 2019 as a full-time baking business.  "I use my mom's pans, piping tips, turntable... I feel very connected to her when I'm in the kitchen," states Cheyenne.  "I have found this as my therapy and my passion."

Cheyenne loves being apart of people's special celebrations, and so far her favorite cakes have been a Mardi Gras and mermaid-inspired cakes.  She also does cupcakes and started a quarantine inspired cupcake decorating kit for kids to make their own creations.  She's hoping to expand her business with a portable cupcake truck soon.

Cheyenne's cakes, like Oreo, Hershey's, and the most-popular Nutter Butter, start at $40 a cake.  Custom cakes are priced based on design and difficulty.  Her favorite and her most popular orders are her drip cakes.  "I feel honored when people ask me to make them a cake that will be apart of their memories," she says. "It's a wonderful way to enjoy your work."
