The Southeast Alabama Community Theatre will present “Million Dollar Quartet” Tuesday-Saturday, Oct. 22-26, at 7 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center. A Tuesday night, shortly before Christmas 1956, four legends, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley gathered at the Sun Record recording studio in Memphis, Tennessee. It was a trip down memory lane to a place that had launched their careers. Word soon leaked out of an impromptu jam session. A newspaperman who was there wrote, "This quartet could sell a million." Dubbed the Million Dollar Quartet, this was their only performance, a cultural flashpoint that caught rock 'n roll at the moment of creation. Musical numbers include Blue Suede Shoes, Who Do You Love?, Folsom Prison Blues, Fever, Down By The Riverside, Peace in the Valley, Walk the Line and many others. Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 7, and are $19 adults and $17 seniors/students. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with reserved seating beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through SEACT by calling (334) 794-0400, online at www.seact.com or by making an appointment to visit the office weekdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
